An SBDC Business Advisor since 2011, Mark Colonomos specializes in helping clients with business plans, business startup, general business issues, management and sales and marketing.Mark spent 30 years as a manufacturer, retailer and consultant in the fashion industry, where he held positions ranging from head designer to sales manager for various apparel companies. In addition, he previously owned four apparel companies, as well as two retail stores. His last business, a sweater manufacturer, had annual sales of $18 million; more than 150 employees; and clients including Kohl’s, Sears and JC Penney. The success of that business enabled him to retire at a relatively young age. Since 2005, Mark has been an instructor at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles, where he was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year – 2011. He has also held leadership roles with Volunteers of America and the Los Angeles chapter of SCORE, and counsels and lectures at numerous nonprofits in Southern California.“Helping people realize their dreams and building a better life for themselves” is Mark’s favorite part of being an SBDC Business Advisor.Mark is fluent in American Sign Language.
